Founded in 2017–2018 in Berlin by Tim Dettmann (CEO and founder, a former member of the German National Badminton Team for nearly two decades), with co-founders David Wolf and Alexey Samkov, BEAT81 has built a network of indoor circuit and cycling studios across Berlin and other cities – plus outdoor locations and an app-based booking and tracking experience.
The brand combines four key pillars: 45-minute efficiency, wearable heart-rate technology, personalised post-workout analytics, and a strong community. BEAT81 employs around 110 people, has raised roughly $7M (including a Series A in 2019), and operates studios in locations including Boxhagener Straße, Alexanderplatz, Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße, and Budapester Straße in Berlin.
“While venture capital plays a vital role in supporting startups like ours, having access to an alternative funding source, like Gilion, lets us maintain operational flexibility and focus on delivering exceptional value to our community.”
